About Us

Warren T. Saul first opened the doors of Saul Funeral Homes, Inc. to serve the small community of Hamilton Square, NJ in 1899. Warren T. Saul's two sons, Melvin E. and William L., joined the business in 1928 and 1935 respectively. With the passing of Warren T. Saul in 1931, the brothers co-managed the business very successfully and in 1940 expanded it to a second facility, the Saul Memorial Home located on Greenwood Avenue. The Saul Colonial Home was constructed on its present site. With the ever-increasing size of the business and the desire to continue the family tradition, their children joined the two brothers. Melvin's daughter, Elizabeth L. Saul, joined the funeral home in 1959, followed by W. William Saul in 1964. Growth and expansion continued as the Saul Memorial Home was enlarged to include a second story selection room and clinical area. In 1973, the Saul Colonial Home at Hamilton Square was remodeled, and a wing was added. In May 1981, William L. Saul passed away and Melvin and his daughter, Elizabeth, retired. Shortly thereafter in September 1983, the Glackin Funeral Home in Hightstown was acquired. In 1987, Bill's wife, Nancy, left teaching in Hamilton and joined him at the funeral home. Her administrative and organizational skills helped the company to set the stage for further expansion. In 1991, the A.S. Cole Son & Co. of Cranbury was acquired. In June of 1992, Bill and Nancy's children, Scott and Kimberly, joined the firm, making them the fourth generation to carry on the family name and tradition. In 1999, Scott and Kimberly became the owners of the company. They along with their staff continue the tradition of serving the families in all of the surrounding communities. As funeral service choices continues to evolve, you can count on the caring staff of Saul Funeral Homes to provide you with the best service, as well as the most unique types of of funeral services to the community it so proudly represents.
