“Funeralocity allows grieving consumers to look at…prices and reviews”
NEW YORK CITY, October 12, 2019 – According to the New York Post, Funeralocity, a comparison website for funeral and cremation services, has released its annual study of funeral expenses. The report identifies the most expensive places to have a traditional full service burial and a direct cremation. Long Island, including Nassau and Suffolk counties, tops the list of the most expensive places to have a traditional burial.
In these two counties, the average cost of a full service burial is $9,744, which is approximately 31% higher than the national average. While not as high, New York City also exceeds the national average by about 11%. The average cost of a full service burial in the five boroughs is $8,256.
Michael Lanotte, Executive Director of the New York State Funeral Directors Association believes that end-of-life costs tend to run higher on Long Island due to more traditional attitudes towards burials and the desire to include all of the services available.
According to the CEO of Funeralocity, Ed Michael Reggie, preplanning burial or cremation services is an important aspect of not overpaying. It is difficult to compare prices and services in a time of grief.
Funeralocity’s platform enables consumers to compare funeral and cremation costs, ratings and services in their area within the privacy of their own home. It can connect families who have an immediate need or are making arrangements in advance with the best funeral providers in their location.
